What Ekopregledv does, in plain language
We report on India's economy the way a good analyst would — starting with the data, ending with the implication.
Ekopregledv is an independent economics news outlet founded in Hyderabad in 2019. We cover five areas of India's economy: macro-economy (GDP, inflation, fiscal policy), business (corporate performance and sectoral output), labour markets (formal and informal employment), economic policy (budgets, legislation, and regulatory decisions), and household budgets (the cost of living as it actually lands on a family's monthly spending). We do not cover stock tips, cryptocurrency markets, forex trading, or investment products of any kind. Our editorial boundary is clear: if a story's primary purpose is to influence a financial transaction, it does not belong on Ekopregledv. Our readers include students studying economics, working professionals tracking how policy changes will affect their industries, researchers looking for a readable synthesis of government statistical releases, and citizens who want to understand the economic conversation without wading through 90-page ministry documents. We publish in English and aim to be fully accessible to a general reader with no economics training — though we never dumb down the data itself.
How we work and what we won't promise
Five years of reporting, one editorial standard: the source must be primary.
Since 2019 Ekopregledv has published over 320 analysis pieces and explainers. Every one of them links to the underlying dataset or government document — there are no blind citations on this site. Our core team is small: three economists-turned-journalists and one data visualisation specialist based in Hyderabad, with a network of part-time contributors in Pune, Chennai, and Delhi. We work in an emerald-fresh, open-plan office that functions more like a research lab than a traditional newsroom — a dataset gets reviewed before a word is written. What we won't promise: we can't tell you what the economy will do next quarter, and we won't pretend otherwise. Economic forecasting involves assumptions that are often wrong, and when a government body revises its own historical data — as MOSPI does routinely — we update our analysis and flag the revision rather than quietly leaving old numbers in place. Our analysis reflects the data as it stands at the time of publication. When that data changes materially, so does our story. If you're looking for confident predictions or simple “good news / bad news” framing, Ekopregledv is probably not the right outlet for you — and we're fine with that.
A reader's perspective
I assigned Ekopregledv's piece on the Union Budget fiscal math to my second-year economics students at Osmania University. The way it decomposed the revenue and expenditure line items, with actual numbers from the budget document, was cleaner than anything in our standard textbook. It sparked a two-hour seminar discussion.
